Fashion and beauty’s biggest night out! The Met Gala is an annual fundraising event for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. The event is organized by none other than Vogue, and of course, that means big names, big gowns, and stunning faces as far as the eye can see. After the 2020 event was canceled due to coronavirus restrictions, everyone went all-out this year to make up for a lost time.
The Met Gala welcomes everyone from creative professionals, to influencers and activists, to big stars, to industry legends. All need the highest standard of a-list styling, make-up application, and hair magic.
The Met Gala has run almost every year since 1948 and has evolved from a small invite-only dinner event to one of the most exclusive and prominent social events in the world.
Every year the event evolves with the times, and so does the preparation.
We’ve spotted some familiar faces using our high-quality innovative GLAMCOR Pro Makeup lighting technology to help them prepare for the biggest night of the year, and of course, they all looked absolutely stunning.
When it comes to an event as high profile as the Met Gala, lighting is everything from beginning to end, but especially in the preparation stages. There can’t be a single eyebrow hair out of place, any make-up left un-blended, or any blemishes left uncovered. That’s why so many artists turn to GLAMCOR for reliable and flawless lighting.
Zoey Deutch was an absolute vision in sparkling lilac Versace, and make-up expertly applied by the legendary Jenna Kristina.
Jenna is MUA to the stars all year round and has created make-up artistry for everyone from Alexandra Daddario to Lili Reinhart.
Jenna was kind enough to tag us in the behind-the-scenes snaps of her hard at work creative Zoey’s immaculate make-up for the Met Gala.
Jenna uses the GLAMCOR Multimedia X light in white, one of our most advanced multi-use and versatile kits. The MMX is popular with content creators, influencers, as well as make-up artists, and estheticians.
The MMX includes a fully adjustable LED light with customizable brightness and color temperature, as well as a remote control paired with Bluetooth functionality, and a universal phone clip. It’s everything an artist like Jenna could want in one piece of kit.
Influencer and YouTube star Emma Chamberlain attended her first Met Gala this year and had an incredible team to help her with her look and calm her nerves.
In a vlog produced by Vogue, she guided us through her getting ready process (and of course was as charming as ever, despite the nerves!)
We spotted her team using an Ultra X from GLAMCOR. The Ultra X is a super sleek, super lightweight piece of kit perfect for traveling make-up artists, as well as hairstylists. It packs up neatly into a tidy carry case and goes wherever you go. As always, the light itself is completely adjustable, dimmable, and flicker-free.
Emma’s team had their Ultra X set up behind the make-up artist, with a little extra space between the light and Emma. This gave an evenly lit, bright, and natural-lighting effect to best assess how her make-up will look on the red carpet to photographers and onlookers looking at her from a distance.
As the Ultra X also features our unique flexible arms and is incredibly lightweight, it would have been very easy for them to move the light closer if needed. However, it’s clear in the video that the light was more than bright enough.
The beautiful Kaia Gerber was another first-timer at the Met Gala this year and rocked it with a gorgeous and traditional black Oscar De La Renta dress, and ultra-glam make-up and hair.
We spotted her team using multiple GLAMCOR lights for a full lighting setup. Like Jenna Kristina, they opted for the MMX in Grey for the multimedia content creation experience with the highest quality lighting technology. The flexible arms are perfect for full creative control, ideal for creating Kaia’s look in all its glamorous glory.
They also utilized a RIKI SKINNY mirror, our bestselling world-famous portable LED vanity mirror, and a streaming device. With 5 dimming levels, it’s perfect for giving you full power over the level of lighting and tackling the finer details. It wasn’t on Oprah’s list of favorite things for nothing! And Kaia’s team made excellent use of it.
Have you been inspired by any of the amazing Met Gala looks this year, and will you be recreating any with your own GLAMCOR kit?
