So you’ve got the training, the skills, the experience, and you’re ready to set up your very own lash studio. This can be such an exciting time, but it can also be very overwhelming. There’s so much to consider and so many things you need to do before you can open your doors to the public.

You only have one chance to make a great first impression on your client, so you want to be sure that the space you create is inviting, organized, well-equipped, and beautiful! A space that any client walking through your doors will feel instantly at home in.

Here are our top tips for getting started on your journey to running an amazing lash business.

Make sure you have a suitable space

You want your client to feel instantly at ease when they walk into your studio. Regardless of how the room looks or how well-organized it is, this first of all means taking care of the premises.

    Temperature

Is the room a good temperature? Road test the room before you put any equipment inside or begin decorating. If you’re somewhere hot you need to make sure that the air conditioning is sufficient. If your studio is somewhere chillier, make sure you can adequately heat the room and take care of any cold drafts.

    Safety

Do you have safe on-site parking, and lockers for personal belongings if clients wish to use them? Do you need somewhere with a safe space for a waiting room? These are all things to consider if this is something you think your clients will be looking for. Don’t forget about this when doing your market research!

You will also be working with strong chemicals, so to make sure you’re looking after your clients’ health you will need a way to remove toxins from the air. Flow is an exhaust fan and dryer in one, and will remove strong odors from the air whilst cutting drying time in half as well.

    Lighting and equipment

The next step to creating a welcoming studio for your clients is making sure you have all your lighting and equipment in order. Your clients should have total faith in your abilities as an esthetician to do your job well, and having a professional setup will be their first indication they get that you are an expert.

    Lighting

Perhaps the most important aspect of your setup is lighting. You need to have adjustable, dimmable, maneuverable lighting that you can easily position according to your needs. You want it to be bright enough that you can see everything clearly, but not so bright that it hurts your client’s eyes, or so hot that they start to sweat!

If you’re not sure where to start, we recommend checking out the Elite X. This is one of our best-sellers and a firm favorite among lash estheticians. It has two flexible arms and is perfect for getting precise, beautiful results in every session.

If you’re looking for something a little more advanced, the Revolution X is the one for you. It has all the capabilities of the Elite X, and also has one arm longer than the other, specifically designed to stretch across any size client bed.

All lights at GLAMCOR generate no heat and do a perfect job of keeping you and your clients cool throughout the treatment session. They also have different color lights that can be personalized to match the theme of your salon. Double up on practicality and aesthetic simultaneously to save money in the future.

    Equipment

And of course, you will need a comprehensive lash kit to be able to do your job to the highest standard. A high-quality adjustable client bed is worth investing in, as something that will be in use every day. The same goes for your own stool. You’re going to be sitting here every day so get a chair that gives you good support, which is on wheels for ease of movement.

You will also need a full lash kit. Lash trays, lash wands, lash bath, first aid kit, saline, tweezers, primer, cleanser, mister, cotton rounds, and backups of everything!

    Be social media-friendly

Last but not least, being social media-friendly will take your customer experience to the next level.

    Selfie wall

Having a dedicated wall space for clients to take selfies is a modern and forward-thinking addition to your studio. It’s also a great chance to splash some color with a feature wall or wall art. Invite your clients to take a selfie and tag you on social media.

    Lighting

For the gold standard in client experience, check out the professional LED lighting solution Multimedia X light. The flexible arms can be used for your client bed, but when your client is ready to admire their new lashes move it over to the selfie wall to help them take an amazing selfie. It has a universal phone clip, and Bluetooth selfie function. Not only will you leave a lasting impression on your clients, you will also benefit from additional and easy marketing for every selfie shared online (which they are more likely to do if it’s high quality and flattering light!).
